How do I access command line?

I was recently told to enter the following command into the command line

Code:
su
rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
yum install kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i586 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64
reboot
but was not told how to actually do it. I tried using ctrl + alt + F3 but I get an error saying 'curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host 'download1.rpmfusion.org'

The problem is when I log in I get a white screen where I can't do anything, including accessing the kernel.

to be clear, when you get the white screen; no combination of Ctrl-Alt-Fn (F2 to F12) gets you to a console?

Sorry I should have been a bit more clear. When I use Ctrl+Alt+F2-F12 I then try and input the commands and get the error stated above.

And yes I have a working internet connection. Although when I first loaded up fedora I did have to manually chose what network to connect to. How can I do this through command line?

I don't see how you could get that error message unless you managed to type that command into a terminal.

I've just tried accessing that url with firefox and got a 404 error not found. may be why you got a similar message.
Now I see why, there's 2 urls there, may be try one at a time, one at a time works in firefox anyway.

In the terminal as root try
Code:
wget http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...ble.noarch.rpm
rpm -uvh rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
yum install kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i586

Yeah I tried doing it one at a time but that didn't work. I'll quickly ping test on google.

edit: same thing, unable to resolve host. Same message when I try the commands and when I try to ping an address.

No nameservers found: try putting DNS servers into your ifcfg files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts like so:

DNS1:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
DNS2:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
DOMAIN=lab.foo.com bar.foo.com
thank you for replying. How can I edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts through command line?

you DO KNOW that fedora is a TESTING distro !!!
It's target user is the person who LIKES TO FIX COMPUTERS .
fedora is NOT geared for the very new user and as such needs fixing ALL THE TIME.

If you do not WANT TO LEARN how to fix a opperating system , i would not use fedora

a good choice for the new user is Ubuntu

i think you will have a muck better time if you install ubuntu .

or learn how to fix computer code .

i am assuming you are behind a router ???
if not then fedora 11 will auto detect your cable or dsl connection and AUTO set it up.

BUT fedora 11 uses IPV6 is the default
most carriers do not support it you .
the ipv6 might need to be disabled during the install

see the fedora install and user docs
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/
the net fonfig in the installer
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/instal...ig-fedora.html
