I am using Fedora 8 x86_64 Under AMD64.
I got used to the KDE3.5
When i installed Fedora 9 in anotehr partition and tried KDE4 i found i cant do my work swiftly as i did it in my KDE3.5
Lot of shortcuts dont work. I cant assign shortkeys to programs (I binded the ctrl+k with konsole and more)
What i want to say is how can i get the benifit of the KDE4 performance upgrades along woth the same feel of KDE3.5
Some other problems like
When i installed kplayer through yum, when i launched yum the volume, gamma, brightness icons on the kplayer window is showing as a dot "." means the icons doesnt show. Same with alot of applications. But when i run those programs thrugh root i can see them.
The worst problem is whenever i click on any icon on the desktop , kplayer is launched.
Can you give me a handbook of using KDE4

Reason: Some more questions added
Unfortunately, I think it will take some time before KDE4 gets enough updates to match KDE3.5. There is a KDE4.1 which should be available very soon, but for the most part much of the older functionality of 3.5 is just not available yet.
I am not going to install update my fedora till we dont have a stable system. I can wait for Fedora 10
Is it possible to keep KDE4 along with using KDE3.5.
Then i can continue to do my works at the same pace with doing some testing on KDE4
No, it is not possible to keep both v3 and v4 of KDE on the same Fedora install. This is NOT supported by the Fedora packagers.
Fedora 10 will have KDE 4.1 (plus minor updates). From what I have read, even this will most likely not have all the functionality of KDE3.5. You may wish to research this further.
Thats the cause which is barring me to get an x86_64 fedora 9 or 10 and install. I am not comfortable with GNOME. and in new KDE4 ithas a lot eyecandy. But a lot of eyecandy is bad for fast work. Am i right?
It would be the best if the developers pack the performance update (which the rebuilt from scratch) and the eyecandy (for the people who likes them) and which will be real light on system.
Can you tell what knowledge i need to get into KDE (or KDE application) development?
