I just installed Fedora Core 2 and am trying to enable my Intel 2100 wireless card. I found excellent instructions here
http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/index.php
but was not able to successfully get my wireless card up and running. The thing that did not seem to go according to the instructions was adding the firmware to the Hotplug firmware directory. I built the driver external to the kernel, then proceeded to the Loading the Firmware section. This stated to copy the four files contained in the firmware package to the hotplug firmware directory
(typically /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/). I don't have a /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware directory. I searched my filesystem for a hotplug directory but could find nothing which seemed like the same sort of directory. I have the hotplug.agent and when I run rpm -q hotplug it returns the hotplug package, so I'm pretty sure it's enabled. I then followed the steps in the Loading the Driver section and tried to fire up the card but it was not found. Upon rebooting I was informed that the device does not appear to be present. Anyone know where the hotplug/firmware directory is, where I need to place the firmware in order for hotplug to load it, or have any other ideas what went wrong? Thanks in advance.
