help with wireless wmp54g and wpa-psk

I followed a guide at http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/...ghlight=rt2500

It compiled great, and the module installed. It installed an alias in modprobe.conf for wlan0, but when I bring the interface up I get an error. My wireless is encrypted with a WPA-PSK. If I disable Encryption then it obtains and IP and can connect to the network. I tried to execute WPA_supplicant, but it indicated an error like not supported. I think configured the wpa_supplicant.conf file with the appropriate network settings. I am sorry I do not have the exact error I am writing this at work. I am running fedora 6. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

On a similar note of this. I'm new to Linux again and can't figure this out. I'm trying to get this driver installed too but having difficulty. Where do I store the file before running the "tar xzvf rt2500-1.1.0-b2.tar.gz" command?

Update:

Whenever I run the tar command this is the output I get

[root@localhost ~]# tar xzvf rt2500-1.1.0-b2.tar.gz
tar: rt2500-1.1.0-b2.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
