Help: Error while forming cluster using openmosix in Fedora 3

Hi All,
We are trying to cluster 4 fedora core 3 machines with the help of openmosix 2.6 version. Is this version of openmosix will work with fedora core?we could able to see the openmosix at the startup menu but we got an error as follows:

"kernal panic -not syncing ..attempted to kill init!"

i will be happy to see someone help us to come out of it..

If someother cluster tools are available for fedora core 3, pls let us know.

Thanks in advance..reply as fast as possible...

LAM (Local Area Multicomputer, see http://www.lam-mpi.org) is included with RHEL/Fedora distributions.

I would like to tell more elaborate about my problem we are doing one grid project for that we need to form one cluster using OPENMOSIX cluster tool in Linux environment. We installed succussfully in RedHat 9 linux OS but unfortunatly we could not install OPENMOSIX in Red Hat Fedora Core 3.After Installation when we enter into Openmosix menu in boot loader. It displays the error

" Kernal Panic : Not syncing" something like that

pls help us as soon as possible How to Install openmosix in Fedora core 3 ; let me know even any other patch needed to run openmosix in fedora core 3.

There must be a problem on your end, because the URL ( http://www.lam-mpi.org ) opens for me right from this thread. If you continue to have problems with the URL, just search for lam-mpi.org in Google.

Regarding openMOSIX ( http://openmosix.sourceforge.net ), their FAQs ( http://howto.x-tend.be/openMosixWiki/index.php/FAQ ) make an interesting comment:

“What kernel versions does openMosix support?:

The latest Linux kernel supported is 2.4.22. Later versions of the 2.4 series will be supported, as will kernel versions in the 2.6 series.”

If that comment is still true, then the FC3 2.6 kernel is causing your openMOSIX problem.

Hi WhatHisName,
Yes your URL is valid one. But I could not find out solution there. Now I simply tell what I need
is Openmosix patch for Fedora core 3 Kernal version 2.6.9-1.667 . I saw it in the link http://openmosix.sourceforge.net/ and openMosix 2.6 is currently available only from CVS but i dont know how to download it from there. Because there is no direct link for download openmosix 2.6. Could u give me the direct link to download openmosix 2.6 using my above info.

Currently there is not a patch released openMosix patch for the 2.6 kernels, as of 5/26/2005. The openMosix team is working on it, but there are a few major changes between the 2.4 patches and the 2.6 patches that have delayed the release.
