help Compiled kernel destroyed system-config-packages database

Hi,

Ok, here's my problem. I applied the ntfs patch and installed ndiswrapper. Then I compiled my kernel. I can now mount ntfs and use the wireless card. But, my installation is now so large that when I tried to download wine and compile it I ran out of room.

What I would like to do is remove the kde desktop environment and maybe some other miscellaneous packages I'm not currently using to make room for wine. But when I open system-config-packages, all the items have a [0/num] packages installed listed. How can I fix the db to reflect the true state of my machine?

Thanks in advance,
Barry

Can you still boot into your old kernel? If so, do this and then attempt to run the program. If this does not work, you can try to install apt and synaptic. These will not take up that much room, and will fill the same purpose.
