gui for yum on FC2

I'm just curious if anyone has tried using the gui for yum that Cobind desktop has developed. Wondered if anybody had used it, what their thoughts were, how well it worked, if they recommended it, ect...

I've been thinking about installing that and I've also been thinking about just trying Cobind period to see what it's like.

The June issue of Linux Journal had an article on yum, You might want to check it out, I haven't read it yet.

Synaptic

Hi then,

have you tried out synaptic package manager? I use it with Fedora Core 2 and can only recommend it.

Synaptic Package

Hi again,

you can fetch it from the Freshrpms Site:
http://tettnang.freshrpms.net/

This is one of the must-have repos you need to include later in your Synaptic
sources.list. If you want to have a sample file with additional repos, just google a bit :-)
I can also send down my list, but you should find your own closest/fastest mirrors.

Enjoy /// Marc

I would agree with the previous two posts. Synaptic is very easy to use for a beginner. It basically checks all it's know repositories, lists everything it finds and lets you install it in GUI. The best things about ti compared to YUM, Up2Date etc though is the fact that it can look for inter-dependancies and automatically download them. This is handy if you'er installing things that have a lto of dependencies like Xine and Mplayer.
