Gray Box in System Tray? KDE 3.5

Fedora Core 4

I have a gray box in my KDE 3.5 system tray. Clicking on it (right/left) does nothing. I don't know what it is and it always starts up with KDE.

Is there a way to see what programs are currently running in the tray from CLI?

Not a major issue, but it's kind of annoying.

Well not real sure how to display the program currently running in the panel through CLI but you can issue one of the following commands to show all ofthe programs running.

df
du

Can never remember which command shows all of the programs. Always get them mixed up.

I think in that box are showing the icons of GNOME programs. I've KDE 3.4 and have the same thing. The box appears if I print something, run as root... It is annoying, but I can't do something. I think that you must accustom with it.

brianthegreat: df and du are hard disk usage commands. df gives you a quick look at what's free on your mounted filesystems (your hard drives). du gives you a little more detail.

To see what's currently running you would probably do a "top" or "ps -aux".

Hirszu: Maybe a good starting point. Could be a Gnome program I guess.

Thanks both for the replies.
