I installed FC4 a week ago. some time earlier, I noticed that when the X server starts, the icons and menus on the panels dont appear! What could be the reason?

So, I remove the blank panels to create new custom ones. Now the only problem is that I dont have a taskbar/tray! The software which mnimize to tray disappear once minimized. I tried to locate a tray menu but its not there in the Add New of the panel properties. What do I do now? I have done an Everything install. So reinstalling is not an option.

You could try deleting your ~/.gnome files. Delete everything at your home directory that has a ".gnome" on it. Next time you restart Gnome, a brand new one will be created and it should work just fine.

Megaman - thought I would watch your link for newbies but it tries to open in Totem which then says - can't open - no plug-in!! As I am a newbie perhaps you might help with instructions on how to open it
