My problem with RHEL 5 was that I had the Xen enabled kernel installed... I didn't want Xen, the kernel was causing problems with compiling other stuff, so I uninstalled Xen. Well, it uninstalled the friggin kernel too, so I had nothing to boot into.. hehehe so I booted off recovery CD and did a yum install kernel, and readjusted grub.conf for the new kernel. All was good, except my Gnome was gone.. just gone. I guess uninstalling xen uninstalled it too.. (?!) Anyway, this thread gave me the clues I needed, I'm bakc in business now with a Xen-less kernerl and my Gnome workarea back. |
