Post Gnome Desktop Folder Location

In Fedora Core 3, the location of you gnome desktop is a folder called "Desktop" in your home directory. I am looking for a way to hide it (prefix a period). I heard that gconft-editor or the nautilus config could do it, but I just can't find it anywhere. Anything?

Thanks,

Scott Logan

Hi! Well, if you go into terminal and type in:
Code:
$ cd ~
$ mv Desktop .Desktop
I'm pretty sure that'll work, but why do you want to hide your Desktop folder? Why don't you just move your files from your Desktop to another folder? I can help you make a hard-to-find folder if you want...

Code:
$ cd ~
$ mkdir ". "
$ cp -r Desktop/* ". "/
That'll copy everything from Desktop into your " " directory. Simple yet effective.

Problem is, if you change the folder, it re-creates it as the same "Desktop" name. I need to tell GNOME to look for the desktop at a different path.

Why on earth would you want to do that? GNOME does that to save you from yourself. What would thta even accomplish? Only you have access to your Desktop dir, or anything in your home dir, besides obviously root.
