Question Getting the most from fc10 on intel 815e (embedded) video

Hi

I recently installed fc10 on an IBM NetVista 6578-GBA (PIII with 815e chipset mobo). This machine previously ran fc6, and with the new OS loaded I was pleasantly surprised to see the graphic logon screen expand to the full width of the widescreen Samsung LCD I have on the KVM (fc6 only ran a standard aspect with black borders).

Logon as root, and the desktop is similarly correctly expanded. However login as any of the user accounts and you get the black borders left and right of a standard aspect image. The video setup for the individual users does not offer any widescreen aspect choices.

Any idea why root and the graphical login gets it right, and how I can get the user accounts to follow suit? I love the extra real-estate !

TIA

Well this one was curious. I do not know what was broken, but I rolled back the updates to avoid the static IP bug, then following the latest updates the higher screen resolutions are present for the user accounts. Not sure at what stage this was fixed unfortunately.

But on the plus side: Crisis averted !
