gdm startup script in Fedora Core 4

How can I run automatically some programs after logging in in GDM in Fedora Core 4? I've always used .xsession (since I run my WM by selecting gdm's "Default session") when running Debian. Now with a FC4 installation that doesn't seem to work. Default Session doesn't seem to run .xsession nor does anything else. Also .xprofile is mentioned in some sources but that doesn't do much good either.

I am not sure about FC4 but i think u can have a look at the xinitc file here

Look in .gnome2/session for the saved session information. The format is fairly clear (and, I believe, described in the documentation).
