Gahhhh! Fedora core 2's main files are write protected (4nd th!5 n00b n33d5 h3lp)

uh, yeah. what it says in the title. I need some wise, handsome (or beautiful) person to, out of the goodness of their heart TELL ME HOW TO GET THIS FREAKING WRITE PROTECTION TURNED OFF!!!(whoa, i guess html is actually turned on, despite the little thingy on the side) I just gots to manually install some drivers and mess with my buggy WineX, but the stupid restrictions on core2 wont let me mess around. I could probably do this in redhat, but in fedora I'm such a n00b. someone help me and my ego [color=I'm feeling blue] which is feeling very small right now [/self pity].
Edit: wow. I just restarted. I feel dumb. Don't waste your time replying.
