As far as I have gotten to that Fedora Box ,all Ican do is run XINE on it ...(some rpms WERE accepted!!!) There Must be some simple <in Linux -Nothing is really simple> , technique to enable DVD ripping ------- Thats all I really need to do, NOT re-encode 7.4 GBYTES of Video Vob,s .

Because, apparently, you haven't read or understood anything you've been told, or done any research. Windows XP could play encrypted DVD's, because Microsoft FORCED you to purchase software that had a license to 'allow' them to decrypt DVD's. During that 'era', the libdvdcss system hadn't yet been written. AGAIN, the things you're trying to do with Fedora 8 have ZERO to do with a 'Linux problem', but the fact that those things weren't yet written.
Again, to put it simply for you..."Not Written Yet" = "Can't install and run them"

No, nothing in Windows is simple...Linux is far easier..you just don't know how, so again, you're equating your lack of knowledge with a "Linux problem". It just isnt'.

Yes...you need to install the latest versions of things, which will let you do all you need and more, period. Doesn't get simpler than that.
If you're still whining about how Fedora 8 can't do things it wasn't ever designed to do, then use your Windows XP and stop playing with Linux. Seems like the obvious solution.
