Firefox + totem + gstreamer = black screen

Guys/Gals,

I've got a clean install of Fedora 8, default video plugins are totem 2.2 + gstreamer 0.10.15 in Firefox 2.
However, although the about: plugins says its all set to go, if I try to watch any video, all I get is a black screen.
Anyone got the answer?

Hello

I've given up multimedia plug-ins in Firefox a long ago, I'm using MediaPlayerConnectivity extension. Works well and, most of all, helps keeping Firefox stability.

Thx, but ideally I'd like to stick to Fedora repo stuff, so I don't get probs with updates/staying synced to everything else.
Prob a good time to point out that I don't usually mess with video stuff, so any explanations as simple as possible please.
Thx
