Fedora upgrade blows away web-server directory
Serious bone-head move - I decide to "upgrade" my Fedora 8 install to 12 using the installation DVD available. It was nice enough to leave my /home (which I don't care about) but it deleted my Apache web root and all of my website files.
debugfs comes back with nothing. Does anyone know how I may be able to recover some of my files? |
If you haven't used the system (much) since then, you could try photorec. Try a search here at LQ for other suggestions; its been asked a few times.
The more you use the system, the less likely you're going to recover... |
as you found out the hard way
it is IMPOSABLE to upgrade from 8 to 12 there have been SO MANY changes in fedora that a upgrade from fedora 11 to 12 might not work first is the partition format it changed from 3xt3 to ect4 and the BOOT partition format has changed since 8 so the boot AN / partition need to be reformatted this WILL blow away the old stuff I take it you did NOT make a BACKUP copy ? next time you will Quote:
