Fedora "software sources" vs. Ubuntu "software repositories"

I am back to the "Red" side at the moment installing a Fedora 14 virtual machine in VMWare. I have not used Fedora since about 3 or 4. I want to install Gnome Commander. In Ubuntu I check the repository "...ubuntu lucid partner" and I can find Gnome Commander within the Synaptic Package Manager tool.

In Fedora 14 I do not find Gnome Commander listed in the Add/Remove Software app. I find something which looks similar to the Ubuntu Repositories functionality in System; Administration; Software Sources. However, these all appear to be Fedora specific.

So I did a search and determined that Gnome Commander was available via yum.
Quote:

su -c 'yum install gnome-commander
did the trick. So I guess my questions are:

Where did yum find the Gnome Commander package to download?
Is there a way to add that place to the sources which feed Add/Remove Software?
Is there something big picture wise which I am missing here?

TIA,

Ken

Thanks Glennzo. That helps. I went back to Add/Remove Software and verified that the source Updates is selected. When I had done a Find on gnome commander I got 8 zillion results - everything with the word gnome I think. I then searched for "gnome commander" with quotes when I should have searched for "gnome-commander". Doh! That is why I did not find it and thus my confusion.
