Fedora Game Server

Hello All,

the other day I played SuperTuxKart on my daughters Fedora22 laptop.
I'm not a connaisseur of games but this one I liked!

Since then I'm looking for a way to play that game or similar on my own
gameserver ( or have my kids play on that game server ).

The information I find towards gameserver all mention games that are far to
complicated for me.

Can anyone help me with this?
Many thanks.

Johan

SuperTuxKart is a multiplayer game but only on the same computer and networking is still under development as far as I know. You have to install STK to play it on your own computer.

Game servers are PCs that run a multiplayer network game like minecraft where in a nutshell the server runs the game and the clients connect to it. What other games do your children play?

if you like the current penguin Kart ( better than the older version from last year )

you will then also like
BZ-Flag !!!!!!!

you are a tank - that can jump and fly ( with the correct bonus flag)
it is a mmo of capture the flag but with tanks

it is in the fedora repos
Code:
su -
dnf install bzflag
and while this is a OLDE!!! but goodie
the OLD game was "tux racer"
the updated version is Extreme tux racer ( etracer)
you belly slide down sky slopes and grab herrings for points

dumb cute fun game - addictive game

Hello Michaelk and John,

thanks for the replies.
John, I will certainly try BZ-Flag as well.

My children play Minecraft and some other games on the Ipad.
Part of my plan with the Fedora game-server is to gently lure them away from that.

I also installed bsd-games on Fedora, and my daughter, aged 10 and 3 days, is kinda into that.
My son, aged 11, is harder to convince to swap the Ipad and Minecraft.
But if I would have him set up games for other kids, I'm sure
he would like that.

I tried to the multiplayer thing with SuperTuxKart by attaching 2 keyboards on the laptop, but I guess that's not
the right approach? With one player, everything worked well.

Greetings, Johan
