Fedora Core 5 (upgrade from RH Linux 9) on Dell PowerEdge 1750
Hello,
Has anyone tried upgrading Red Hat Linux 9 to Fedora Core 5 on PowerEdge 1750?
I would like to hear any success or horror stories...
Thanks.

I have not done it myself, but I would not recommend it because its likely to be very problematic. Redhat 9 is really old and contains lots of stuff thats now obsolete in newer Linux distros, so an upgrade to a distro that is something like 3 years newer is not going to be smooth.

Hi reddazz,
Thanks very much for your advice. I think your reasoning is sound.
But I am kinda sick of RHL9's inability to upgrade to new versions of mySQL and PHP.

Maybe its time to backup your important files and do a clean install of a new distro.
