hi guys

i m trying to install fedora core 4 from iso which on my hard drive, the method i m using is loadlin vmlinuz initrd=initrd.img, but the problem is that after i reformat a partition and convert it to ext2 or ext3 the installation hangs on the first welcome screen which is language select ... but if i keep the empty partition as fat32 the installing start but at the spot where u need to install packages it says not valid block device and it ends...

i have tried partition with partition magic 8, from damn small linux...but both r resulting in the same abv stated manner

so any suggestion any clue wat is happening

my best guess is something to do with partition, as i already have windows xp install n don't want to reformat my whole hdd

Try converting the partition(s) you want to install Linux on to free space; no formatting. I've seen where it will halt on a preformatted partition.

The installation process will create necessary filesystems on the free space.
