Fedora main-site one is overloaded with connections, and marghorp -- link doesn't seem to load for me; fails to establish connection.

Hint: Try some of them out (yes I know the guys at fedora don't like that) to get a fast one.

Right now I'm downloading Fedora Core 3 ISO's . It's here in about 15 hours ... can't wait to have it installed
I'm going with a fresh installation.

Has someone installed it? How is it?
Please post some comments about

It's quite fantastic. I got it 5 hours ago and haven't left the computer since. Time for bed now ) KDE 3.3 GNOME 2.8 kernel 2.6.9

Many improvements. Nicely done RedHat (but they are not officialy connected to Fedora )

Best would be to download the ISO's and go with a fresh install. Download page is here, mirrors you can find here

Also you can just update the system with the new cd's or do an upgrade via "yum", "apt" or "up2date" .

I especially like GAIM in it's new edition (you can put it into system tray). And also everything worked out of the box. For the first time. Took me 45 minutes to fully install Fedora to work without any problems at all.

Don't use the Fedora download links if you can help it because they are so overloaded. I'm on a 256k DSL I got CD 1 from a mirrors in 6 hours and here is the status of the other 3 disks

Disk 2 about 25% complete. Still has 15 hours (from fedora DL link)
Disk 3 about 60% complete. Still has 3 hours (from a mirror)
Disk 4 about 10% complete. Still has 10 hours (from another mirror)

As you can see the mirrors are running faster than Fedora's links. Also for better speeds try a mirror at the bottom of the list for your region. The top ones have a tendency to be either slow or maxed out.

bittorrent works wonders.

i was grabbing it @ ~ 2.5mbits on a 3 mbit connection.

of course there is something up with my connection, prolly windows bitching about the amount of connections, happens with torrents with over 1000 seeders. I'm going to attempt to DL through MDK. I hate SP2 and how it limits connections, and I even fixed that.. so i thought.

edit:

for those that want it.

http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/heidel...y-i386.torrent

make sure you are connectable with any client you use, or you will not get the best dl speed possible. also it wouldn't hurt to use a port above the 45000 range, i use 55000, solid DL speds from good seeds.

edit: it's also in the mirror's list.
