Question Fedora core 3 installation disks not recognized

I've tried to start the installation of fedora core, but the disks are simply ignored!

wWhen the computer starts, it searchs for boot disks first at the cd drive, but after scanning the drive, there is a "not found" message and then it boots from the hard disk.

I didn't burned the disks, I bough them. Perhaps they are not properly copied? I've explored the folders to find if all of the programs are present, and everything seems to be right...

Please help me! I really want to install linux!!!

Some systems due to the BIOS and/or the CD drives firmware simply cannot boot from non-DOS floppy emulation CD's. Sometimes a BIOS update and/or CD drive firmware update fixes the problem. Sometimes you need something like;

Thank you for your answer, but it didn't work... every time I choose bootting from the disk, I get an error message ("disk error: 0X0C"). I'm reading more about this error message to find out what's wrong...

Perhaps the cd was copied in a wrong way... I'm pretty sure it is not the BIOS or the cd drive because I installed and old (very old) distro of Corel linux 1.0, and it worked perfectly.

thank you again.

The old Corel Linux 1.0 CD was created with a floppy boot emulation type boot sector, so no surprise here. The error (disk error: 0X0C) means for some reason the CD cannot be read. This could be for a number of reasons including the CD drive itself cannot read 700-MB media, older CD drives have this problem.

If you already have an OS installed on the system; Boot the system normally without the CD media in place, after the system is loaded try reading the CD media (load the CD).

I finally managed to install Fedora using the procedure described in the link below. I simply downloaded loadlin and copied vmlinuz and intrd.img from the disk to the hard drive.

Everything worked well, so I do not know what was wrong with those &%#$ disks... do you still think it was the BIOS or perhaps the cd drive?

I haven't tested the disks using a more modern computer to see if they work...

Thank you very much for your time.
