Fedora Core 3 and Windows XP Partitions

Here's my problem.

Drive 1 Windows XP SP2 NTFS
Drive 2 first partition 20 g partition Fedora Core 3
Drive 2 second partition140 g NTFS Data

Since Fedora Core 3 Windows now sees Drive 2 first partition which it never did in the past. What it did was added an H:\ drive to Windows. I believe this has something to do with Volume Group partitioning in fedora Core 3 and I can't find anything written on this to stop this problem. I would like it so Windows doesn't see the Fedora partition. Any help out there???

hiding the Fedora partition

I don't think Windows can see the contents of an ext3 or reiser file system. My experience is windows thinks it's a blank drive and wants to format it. I doubt it would be able to see one without the other.

you should be able to go into DIsk Administrator in XP and remove the drive letter from the volume that has linux on it...i can't see why it would have added a drive letter to an ext3 filesystem though unless maybe you used partition magic or something.

You are right it sees the drive blank and does want to format it. And I did a clean install of Fedora Core 3 using the free space that I gave it. I didn't use partition magic. What I want is for Windows not to add another drive because I installed Fedora Core 3. I'll try removing the drive from Windows first. But it might try to find the drive again on reboot.

Thank you agkrueger your way worked. Your right it did recognized the drive as an H: don't know why either but it saw the linux partition. But removing the drive letter did the trick. I have been trying to solve this problem since Fedora Core 3 came out. Why it saw the linux partition in the first place is yet to be answered.

Many thanks for the help. To me it doesn't matter which side of the fence the problem is on. It all started with Fedora Core 3 so that's where I was looking. I'm curious did Fedora Core 1, Core 2 see the partitions from Windows but not assign a drive number or is it only in Core 3. I never checked the Windows side to see if Fedora saw any linux partitions.
