i had a similar problem using FC1. bittorrent would NOT install, and throw out all sorts of neat Python errors. try the package 'bittorrent-shadowsclient' from http://newrpms.sunsite.dk/. i have not been able to get the GUI client to work, but all the command line versions work and are easy to use.
the spesific package you want is on this page: http://newrpms.sunsite.dk/apt/redhat.../RPMS.newrpms/

another note, youre trying to install a [bittorrent] package for Mandrake Linux. the mandrake rpms will have .mdk somewhere in the file name. alot of the time they will work, but sometimes not. this may be because the libs that you need are in different places, so basically the build platform is completely different.

EDIT:
ATrpms apt/yum repo seems to have the rpm packages that you mention above in the GOOD section.
