Fedora Core 1 on top of Windows (VmWare)

OK, wierd problem. On one machine, I have FC1 running, with VmWare 4.5 running WinXP. Works fine.

On another machine, I have WinXP as host OS, VmWare 4.5, and CANNOT install FC1 as a guest OS. The disk checking procedure fails on disk 2. I have tried several download sites with same results.

I then went to the WinXP machine, and skipped VmWare, booted the machine with disk 1, then checked disk two and it passed! Fails in VmWare, but passes under normal boot procedure.

VmWare says it does not support Fedora. However, FC1 machines can succesfully install WinXP.

Has anybody ever run into this before??

Mike

Update:

Doing the check on a FC1 (host OS) machine, inside VmWare, disk 2 passes.

Grief.

Update:

Appears that the solution is to check "Legacy Emulation" as an advanced feature for the CD (in VmWare)

Arrgh.
