Fedora Core 1 and SATA drives

I'm about to purchase a new Dell computer that comes with SATA drives (however this decision is not 100% yet). Has anyone successfully installed FC1 on a system with SATA? I have kernel 2.4.22-1.2174.nptl and I'm not sure if this will support SATA.

With that said, I'm pretty sure FC2 will support it, so I may hold off until the stable version comes out.

Thanks in advance!

I successfully installed Fedora Core 1 on a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz PC with a Western Digital 80 GB SATA drive ( 7200 RPM, 8 MB cache ).

I have had no problems at all.

My Serial ATA drive is installed as device "hde" since "hda", "hdb", "hdc", and "hdd" are reserved for the IDE ports.

Thumbs up

That's what I wanted to hear!!!

Thank you for the info!

Here are the specs of the Dell Dimension 8300 I'm about to order:
P4 HT 3.2ghz/800FSB
1GB Dual Channel DDR ram
128mb DDR GeForce FX 5200
2 120gig SATA drives (not in a raid config)

I didn't want to spend the money now if I had to wait for a stable FC2......
