the problem is i need to install fedora core 8 to my computer that have a SATA disk (80GB), CELERON D 420 1.6GHZ, 512MB of RAM and DVD Writer install sequence is going very until the end but after the last reboot GDM cannot work, it send me an error message.
i was tought than it was a problem with my graphic card.another test with an IDE hard drive in the same computer reveal that my graphic cards work very well, install procedure going well until the end and display a desktop of fedora.

Did you check the media prior to installing?

SATA Drives arent fully supported as of yet by the Linux Kernel. Your mileage will vary on how compatible they are. Im afraid this is generally across the board. try changing the drive to non-raid/IDE in your computers bios. It may help get you past the current problems.

I personally gave up trying to install Fedora 8 from DVD, because i had similar problems to you. I instead went for the livecd version, installed a minimal system and yum'd in everything else i needed afterwards.

If by some chance you get it to boot without a problem, then try running yum update from a console (ctrl+alt+f1) and grabbing the latest kernel.
