Fedora 9 problem with Gnome when firewall rules active

Hey all,

I get a strange error in gnome that causes the desktop to not load until something looks like it times out. This behavior happens when I close all ports except the ssh port. Does anyone know how I can get around this? Do I need additional ports open for gnome?

What did you do to close all the ports?
If it works when you don't do it it would suggest that you did something you should not have done.
