Fedora 9 gnome xrandr causes X11 restart, works fine in KDE

Hi,

I am running Fedora 9 (2.6.25.4-30.fc9.x86_64, newer kernel freezes my Lenovo X61, presumably because of the Intel wireless card) and the most up to date GNOME does not work with the xrandr program, v. 1.2, e.g. for rotating the screen from regular output to rotated sideways (this is a tablet).

Instead of rotating, xrandr causes an X11 restart with the old settings. Graphics on the X61 are also Intel; strangely enough this works in KDE, while it used to work in GNOME before some of the recent (yum security) updates. Thanks for any help in advance.

Cheers

Thorsten
