Question fedora 9 broadband connection problem

i have a bsnl broadband connection in my pc but whenever i try to run /sbin/ifup ppp0 in fedora 9 terminal .i do not get connected.

please any body help sort out this problem.

i am using fedora 9 gnome
commands i used to set up connection is
su
password
/sbin/pppoe-setup
/sbin/ifup ppp0
