Fedora 7, SATA DVD Drive and nothing else

Hello!
Maybe this topic was raised here, but unfortunately i didn't found the answer.

My MB: ASUS(K8N4E-deluxe) Nvidia chipset.
My SATA dvd: Samsung(TSSTcorp) SN-W163A.

The problem is: when i am staring Fedora7 installation, the installer asked me where should he get install image, and didn't find any appropriate driver for my SATA DVD.

Some forum threads said that i should use the recompiled kernel, or the IDE dvd-drive, but i have no possibility neither recompile kernel, nor get IDE drive.

The nvidia site provides the rpms and sources for sata_nv, but where can i get the binary drivers?

Thanks.

Quick google check says that SATA DVD should--in general--be supported by Linux. Have you tried any other Linux versions--eg Ubuntu/Mepis or PCLinuxOS?

Does it run in "live" mode?

Off-topic: I prefer CD installs--get the extras thru the package manager.

Unhappy

Yes, the drive is recognized within my Fedora installation(installed previous via IDE CD drive) and there's np with burning and reading data at all. No additional modules were compiled to kernel.

For now, the problem is that my MBR is clear and I cant even get the rescue shell.

No, I haven't. Maybe i should try. Please tell me what is the linux with smallest liveCD? And if i will download it, will it run within my DVD-drive? Or I should boot from USB-flash?
