Fedora 7 - disappearing Skype
After the trauma of trying to upgrade from FC5 to Fedora 7 (and many thanks to people on here who explained the hints and kinks needed), I'm almost back in business.
One minor snag: although Skype is running, there is no "toolbar icon" as there used to be in FC5. There is nothing I can do to bring up the Skype panel so that I can make a call etc.
If someone calls me, then the incoming call triggers the panel, and I can answer the call and so on - until they hang up.
Does anyone know how to get the icon to sit alongside the clock at the bottom right hand corner of the screen as it used to do?
I tried Skype's "Online Helpdesk", but all that brought in reply was an e-mail telling me how proud Skype is of the forthcoming new version.

After some use, I find the problem is worse than I thought.
ALL the taskbar entries for running software have vanished. Not only is Skype invisible, so are all other items that run in the background, to be activated by clicking on the taskbar icon.
So, I have no volume control, no "Updates waiting", no Skype (and no Kopete and no Gaim if I still used those). Does anyone know how to get them back? It's not "critical", but it's a pain in the neck.
