Fedora 2, when hit minimize button window disappear

Hi,

I am using Fedora Core 2, and having this problem : Whenever I hit the minize window button (of whatever application) the window disappear ( it does not sit minimizely on the panel), and I think the application is still running. If I try to reopen the application, the window doesn't pop up. I must have done some reconfiguration unknowingly.
This is my office's computer, and I don't have much experience with Linux.
Thanks for you help
