Fedora 2, grub.conf keeps resetting

Im new to Linux, and have recently installed Fedora 2 and set it up for dual boot with my Windows XP partition. If I in /etc/grub.conf set Windows as default, everything works fine and it defaults to Windows on every boot.

However, if I manually choose to enter Fedora 2 on boot, my grub.conf gets altered and the Fedora 2 option is set as default. I dont have a clue what could be the problem here, and I havnt been able to find any information on this problem (mainly because I really dont know what to search for).

Anybody who can help out?

hi,

GRUB's menu list is "/boot/grub/grub.conf".
tweek this one and set what ever you want as default booting OS.

Don't forget to mount the /boot partition first, if it uses its own partition (it's normally only mounted for boot, then immediately unmounted).
