Fedora 19 beta& rhythmbox

Hi, I installed the 64 bit beta at the weekend and it mostly works. I have a problem with rhythmbox though. Firstly I asked rhythmbox to play an MP3, obviously the codec was not present so it asked me whether it should search for the correct codec. It did this, installed the relevant files and I was away with MP3s.

I then asked it to play a radio station which I stream every morning (http://eno.emit.com:8000/fbi_live_64.aacp), I was expecting another prompt to search for codecs but nothing. I clicked on the radio station and all I got at the top of the box was a "paused" notification.

from memory a few gstreamer plugins are needed. I went the whole hog and tried:
Quote:
sudo yum install gstreamer* --exclude=*devel,*doc
That progressed and I tried rhythmbox again with the same results. Any ideas what else I need to get the station going? I had a look through the F19 bug list and didn't see this so I'll log a bug if I can't fix it.

Cheers

With rhythmbox ,did you also install the gstreamer plugins ?
you will NEED the "RPMFusion" repo
see Mjmwired's page
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f18.html#yum

Code:
su -
rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-19.noarch.rpm
--------------
rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-19.noarch.rpm
then the gstreamer-plugins
Code:
yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree
this is the Gnome 3 DE ? right ?
or is it KDE

I am actually using cinnamon although I tried gnome3 - same. Yeah I added rpmfusion and as noted above I tried both gstreamer and gstreamer1 (not sure whether rhythmbox uses gstreamer1 but I thought I would try it anyway).

Quote:
sudo yum install gstreamer* --exclude=*devel,*doc
Further info though...I tried running the program from the command line and got the following error. I assume the radio message is not normal?

Quote:
[tim@winter ~]$ /usr/bin/rhythmbox

(rhythmbox:6199): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Could not open device /dev/radio0

(rhythmbox:6199): Gtk-WARNING **: mnemonic "s" wasn't removed for widget (0x1f598c0)
Wondering whether this is a rhythmbox problem though. For a test I pasted the URL into gnome-mplayer and that produced errors also:
Quote:
GMLIB-Message: in media state change with state = unknown dontplaynext = 0
GMLIB-Message: in media state change with state = unknown dontplaynext = 0
I had noticed a irritating message in /var/log/messages. Now I know where it comes from. When I open rhythmbox (no need to access the radio) I get the following messages constantly:

Quote:
Jun 3 14:59:39 winter /etc/gdm/Xsession[6827]: (cinnamon:7089): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_text_get_editable: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TEXT (self)' failed
Jun 3 14:59:39 winter /etc/gdm/Xsession[6827]: (cinnamon:7089): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_text_get_text: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TEXT (self)' failed
Jun 3 14:59:39 winter /etc/gdm/Xsession[6827]: (cinnamon:7089): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_text_set_text: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TEXT (self)' failed
Jun 3 14:59:39 winter /etc/gdm/Xsession[6827]: (cinnamon:7089): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_text_get_editable: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TEXT (self)' failed
Jun 3 14:59:39 winter /etc/gdm/Xsession[6827]: (cinnamon:7089): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_text_get_text: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TEXT (self)' failed
Jun 3 14:59:39 winter /etc/gdm/Xsession[6827]: (cinnamon:7089): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_text_set_text: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_TEXT (self)' failed
The only way I can stop this message is to logout of my session. I tried to look it up before with no joy so I will try again now I know it comes from this program.

Update to the update. Radio streaming works fine with Banshee. I have logged a bug for rhythmbox #970294

Cheers
