Fedora 18 mouse scrolling is overly sensitive
 

Actually this problem goes back a few versions, but I have yet to find a solution.

The scrolling action using the mouse wheel is way too fast. I managed to find a solution for this for Firefox, but that still leaves this function useless for Open Office, etc. The Mouse/Touchpad settings in System Settings does not offer a wheel adjustment, nor do the Advanced Settings.

Is there a way of dealing with this problem via the terminal?

Thank you very much for all the work you did on my behalf. The solution offered in the link almost provided the solution. Unfortunately it lead to a different problem, namely hardware recognition. I am using a Microsoft wireless laser mouse. While the transceiver is identified, the mouse itself is not. Here is the terminal output:

Since that didn't work I'm not sure what else would; sorry-
It's probably a proprietary issue-

You could try (of course you'll have to make a new purchase) a Logitech or another standard mouse.

That might just be the way to go. MS is not likely to supply drivers for Linux
