Fedora 17 custom thumbdrive step-by-step
|
How does this relate to the method at fedora hosted page? (mkusbimage? )
|
Do you have a link to the page you are asking about?

The procedure I document is for creating a custom image. LiveUSB-creator takes an image and writes it to the flash drive. This replaces the last step of my step-by-step (the dd command) with a GUI operation that gives you the option of persistent storage. Whether you use dd or LiveUSB-creator to write the image is your choice.

I have made remixes in the past, but for dvds only.
I think you should add more 1. links to the article: incl http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Classr...g_Fedora_Remix 2. links for kick start files (Of course they are in the fedora wiki, but most new users will find it difficult to search). Do add that liveusbcreator cannot make images. On the whole a GUI way would be interesting as it would not be easy to design. |
Hello macemoneta ,
First I'm sorry if it's not the good place to writing, I mean there is your article here about Fedora18 but i didn't know if it's was correct to ask questions over there, so if it's not good just tell me. About your tip I say thank you it's very helpful ,I tried this with F19 and it works very well :) I have a question about this method, may be it's possible or not, is there any way to make this ISO installable ? because I have search for /usr/sbin/liveinst in there but I suppose it's not included . Thanks . |
first use the CURRENT version of fedora
Fedora 20 and you might want to read the fedora guide on making a thumb drive a INSTALL usb drive a LIVE image usb drive a BOOTABLE install to a thumb drive from the fedora guides page http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...isc/index.html http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...NIX_Linux.html |

Thanks for your reply, but I guess we don't talk about the same thing or may be I didn't explain myself very well. What I'm talking about is making a ISO of my current system (that's what macemoneta did with this thread) but add the possibility of installation(that's the part I'm asking) not bootable(because it's already the case). For now the ISO resulted with macemoneta's method is a LiveCD, it's ok, boot is ok, I can use it normally like a normal LiveCD but there is no Install option . So may be there is some piece of script we have to add to the kickstart file to have this option ? |
