Fedora 12 boot loader options seems not enabled

When I get to the screen that asks for where to install the grub-loader,
the button, which when pressed, allows choices for this installation
is not enabled in Fedora 12. I burned two different Fedora 12 dvd iso's
and I made sure they downloaded fine by checking the sha256sum. But
I end up with the same situation with both.

Since I am in a multi-boot situation, I clearly do not want to install the
grub to the mbr, which would kill the windows Xp that I have.

I have been installing various versions of Fedora up to Fedora 11 with no
problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You mean TAB and up/down arrows, SpaceBar don't work? If that does not work, is it not possible that you install to MBR and then boot into another distro whose grub you want in MBR and then do a grub install to MBR later?

You should be able to install grub to the MBR without issue. Once you've done that, upon reboot you will have options for Fedora 12 and Other. Other is Windows XP.
