Fedora 11 + Nvidia Driver not working

I had to have the Nvidia Driver build a module to my kernel. It goes through, says it was successful, but I an unable to start X and get this log:

Not sure if there is a wrong driver or the driver is in a different location then where Fedora is looking. Suggestions?

to me it looks like you dont have xorg.conf configured properly.
I'm not sure where xorg.conf on Fedora is, should be under /etc.
find it:
Code:
find /etc | grep xorg.conf
and please post
Code:
sudo cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
or whereever you find your xorg.conf is

also... all X configuration should be done from runlevel3... I assume that's where you started when you were installing the driver, right?

if not, do

Code:
sudo init 3
reinstall the driver. then start X by
Code:
init 5
or
Code:
startx
and post what happened...

I have had only the very positive experience with nvidia drivers under linux...
good luck

The Xorg.Conf is the one the driver made, there was no previous file before. Also, I was doing all configuration in init3.

I added the lines you have above and tried again, I still get the same error. I also used the ".run" file. Any other suggestions?

Interestingly enough, in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers, there is a nvidia_drv.so but if that is the driver in question why can't X seem to find it?

by chance did you install the kmod-nvidia.rpm FIRST then install the nvidia.run?
if so that is a big no-no.

there is a line in the xorg log that puzzles me
" (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device PCI:2:0:0. "
do you by chance have two 2 cards ? 1 a built in chip and a second a 3d card ?

also try this rename the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to xorg.conf-old and reboot

and post the output of this command
Code:
lspci | grep VGA
it should out put something like this for you
" VGA compatible controller:nVidia Corporation GeForce 8200 rev 162 "

looking at the error in the log

...
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device PCI:2:0:0.
....

I would suggest
Code:
lspci -v | grep VGA
and check the BusID (the numbers on the beginning of the line)
you might wanna add a line to the Device section of your xorg.conf:

BusID "PCI:1:0:0"

(substituting 1:0:0 with what your lspci revealed)
and try to start X, in case that mismatched BusID is the issue...

posting the output of lspci might shine some light into it too...
