Fedora 11 Installation - No display during initial boot

Hi,
I am trying to install Fedora 11 on my HP Desktop (Intel P4 2.8 GHz) machine with 1.25 GB memory. It has 265 MB nVidia graphics card (6800 series).
When I try to install from boot from the DVD, it prompts to boot (in 10 secs). However after it boots all I get is a blank screen. I suspect this has something to do with the X display initialization with respect to the graphics card I have.
I had faced similar issue with other distros before (Ubuntu) but could manage to boot with some specific boot parameters for specifying x display driver settings at boot (vesa).
I recall Fedora has similar settings like xdisplay=vesa. But unfortunately this doesn't work.

Any help/suggestion in this regards.

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Animesh

Hi animesh303,

You should be able to use some of these switches:

lowres - self explanatory
resolution - set resolution manually
skipddc - skips monitor detection

cheers,

kbp

Thanks for the response kbp. I tried using the options mentioned by you. Unfortunately couldn't get around the issue.

lowres - (suppose to set the resolution to 640x480). Just received Black screen.
resolution - I have set to resolution=1024x768. But no use. Getting black screen
skipddc - gives black screen all again.

I am loosing hope on Fedora.

The reason I feel the issue is not due to the resolution but the compatibility of the default drivers being loaded upon boot. I do have linux driver associated with the display czrd but don't know how I can use external drivers during fresh install.

Is there any disk activity when the screen is black? ... the installation may not be running at all in the background ie. it may not be a video issue

cheers

Nope. There is no disk activity at all. However I do detect DVD scans periodically.

Thanks.

Could you try the media in a different pc to confirm its ok ? .. another option would be a text mode install
