fdisk question

I am running Fedora Core 2 and I want to use fdisk to create three 200GB partitions on a 600 GB hardware RAID 5 array. Are there any limitations or issues I should be aware of before proceeding? Thanks.

Core 2 is pretty old so you might want to check release notes for later releases to see if they fixed or noted any problems related to large partitions on RAID arrays. Or maybe do an update to a later version anyway. I believe the current is Fedora Core 5.

I presume the array you are referring to is an effective size of 600 GB rather than 600 GB of drives configured as RAID 5 or you will not be able to have three 200 GB partitions.

Also, I presume you know that if you do 200 and 200 that the third partition will be smaller due to the mechanics of the beast. So if your purpose is to have EQUAL sized partitions, you will need to make them a bit smaller.

Lastly, this does seem an unusual partitioning scheme for most environments although I can only imagine a couple of reasons for doing so.
