fdisk command not found

I am using FC1 and have an old windows XP HDD that I would like to mount and partition for linux only use. The HDD is recognized and mounted I believe but I cannot run FDisk to make it useable.

I get this:

bash: fdisk: command not found

please help this poor newbie to reclaim his HDD.

Thanks.

Welcome to LQ!

try /sbin/fdisk as it might not be in your path - also it has to be run as root
IMO /usr/sbin/cfdisk is the better tool

cfdisk is a much much better tool!

You will have to install it though. Go to http://rpmfind.net and download the cfdisk rpm and then:

rpm -Uvh /path/to/cfdisk.rpm

You may also have to find the latest ncurses but is also available at rpmfind.

Good Luck!
