I'm not a Linux guru so please be keep that in mind.
I have used RH in the past and remember making minor changes to Xaccess, gdm.conf and inittab. restart gdm and the way you go.
However,I recently loaded FC6 for the first time and noticed changes in gdm. I believe custom.conf has replaced gdm.conf. I made the changes I thought neccessary and tried to make a remote xwindows connection.
When I launch my x program it makes a connection to the FC6 box. However, I never get a login screen. It simply blinks between a black screen and a blue screen.
I'm sure I have some simple parameter set wrong but I can't figure out what it is. I get the following error from the 0.log file.
What graphics card are you using? The system is trying to start desktop effects such as wobbly windows and the spinning cube however the driver does not support it. This leads me to believe that you have an Nvidia card but are using the nv driver as opposed to the one from nvidia which can support this accelerated type of desktop.
You need to edit your xorg.conf file so that the Composite extension is disabled. It may also be possible to do:
desktop-effects --disable
or something like that from the command line. Post back if you have any problems.
