hi. I am running fc6 and i am having trouble with my network. in the ifconfig i can see the ethernet card to have an IP address and be correctly configured. But i cannot access the internet, not even my network. my gw is 192.168.1.1. when i am trying to ping my gw it does not find it. what shall i look for to fix it?
Try '/sbin/service network restart'. You may need to be root user for the command to work, or use sudo if your user is set up for that. Then try pinging the gateway. BTW, are you sure that your gateway is 192.168.1.1 ? Also, try pinging 127.0.0.1. That's the local host.
