Hi,
I'm new around here! I upgraded to FC6 from FC5 but face the same problem with both: the system seems to hang if left unused
for a while! It's on a dual boot (Win xp) P4 with 256mb RAM.
I face the same problem on my office machine: an IBM P4 with similar configuration. what do I need to do?
I have a similar problem. My avg uptime on my current machine (AMD 64 3800 X2) is about 23hrs before everything locks up. The kernel is set as the current one, and everything is up to date.
It only seems to happen on Fedora. If i run Knoppix from a live cd then i dont see this problem. My best guess at present is its something to do with the video card as i've had a rash of problems with the last 3 nvidia_ko updates. My card is a GF7300. But its also possibly a problem with the Via K8T890 chipset, on my system maybe.
After updating the kernel to 19-1 I tested and still had the problem.
The next day I updated everything else but the kernel (no kernel update available).
It hasn't done it since. (Fingers crossed, wood knocked on.)
I am having the same problem. I just installed Fedora 6 for the first time, but it keeps freezing up. It would sit there idle, but then the CPU fan starts kicking in - and getting loud. I would then check the CPU usage and it starts going up and down (like 50%-90% - no other applications are open). Then it would eventually freeze up. What is going on?
