Unhappy FC6 CPU Frequency Scaling

Hi there i am running FC6 on my acer laptop 2403 wth an intel celeron m processor 1.5 ghz

cpufrequency scaling does not work as it used to in FC-5

I have read different threads on different forums and have found out that there is a bug in anaconda that loads the i586 kernel, well i have updated my kernel it is an 1686 kernel only.

running cpuspeed shows the following error -
Error: Could not open file for writing: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
Error: No such file or directory

i have even done modprobe cpufreq_ondemand, still the cpu frequency scaling does not work and even the cpu frequency applet in GNOME does not work.

I have even changed the driver line in /etc/cpuspeed.conf to driver=p4-clockmod.ko.

Also upon booting the machine i get the error

FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq
(/lib/modules/2.6.14-1.1637_FC4/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi_cpufreq.ko): no such device

What to do please advice.

When i ran Simply mepis cpu frequency scaling worked.

Kindly help.
regards
ac

Sounds like you might want to check your kernel to make sure you have everything you need selected. I think it should be the 'speedstep' for you. You then can select the governors so you don't get that error anymore.
