FC5 no libecal-1.2.so.3()(64bit)

Clean install of FC5 x86 64bit. Can't do a yum update because "libecal-1.2.so.3()(64bit)" dependency is missing.

Surely I'm not the only person on the planet using the 64bit version of FC5! Because looks broken straight out of the box to me.

Missing Dependency: libecal-1.2.so.3()(64bit) is needed by package evolution-webcal
Missing Dependency: libecal-1.2.so.3()(64bit) is needed by package evolution
Missing Dependency: libecal-1.2.so.3()(64bit) is needed by package evolution-sharp
Missing Dependency: libecal-1.2.so.3()(64bit) is needed by package gnome-panel

Appears to be part of the evolution-data-server package which will NOT update through yum, even if specified by itself. And can't remove package because half of gnome apparently needs it to function. :| Maybe 64bit KDE works...

The package was released recently. Looks like there is a problem with it. Until it is resolved, I upgrade the rest of my package using yum:
Code:
yum --exclude=evolution-data-server upgrade

I had exactly the same problem and have used the same solutiion as zeitounator for now. This seems to be a reasonably common issue in FC5 64 bit.

Yeah, or for the CLI challenged "yum install yumex" first then you can deselect the evolution-data-server package from the update queue with a mouse.

Thanks for quick replies tho! Having other probs with my nForce3 AMD64 Compaq laptop (just dumped SuSE 10.1 because of them) and an update error was the last thing I wanted to see after a clean install.

FC5_64

Ran;

# yum install yumex

to get it installed.

# yum list installed yumex
Code:
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Installed Packages
yumex.noarch                             1.0.1-1.0.fc5          installed
On Konsole ran
# yumex

to start it --> select all --> deselect evolution,evolution-data-server, etc. --> Add to Quene --> click "update"

It seemed no response.

Don't know what to tell you. I guess we'll all just have to wait until they fix the package and the change gets replicated to all the mirrors.

You're using FC5? Why not use PUP (Package UPdater)? Superior to yumex if you ask me, similar functionality, but I can confirm that libecal is being troublesome on updating for 32-bit as well. I don't use evolution, but it appears the installed version of libecal is needed by the package gnome-panel.

Yep, this is NOT a 64 bit problem, we are all seeing it.

QA Need ed

I too have seen this problem.
I think we need better QA on releases.
QA is the least fun part of development but is a very necessary step.
Due to this libecal dependency error, yum fails to update anything.
When yum finds a "missing" dependency it just stops and does not update
anything. As a result all of my systems have not updated since this error
cropped up. Yeah yeah I know why allow that to happen. Well it just the way
I run my systems. I rarely have any trouble. Does anyone know where to
suggest a QA group?
