FC5 fresh install, No Display after Boot

Hi,

I have just installed FC5 and have a strange problem. The install went realy well in graphical mode until the first reboot. FC4 worked flawlessly on the same hardware setup.

On boot (to run level 5) I get all the normal graphical screens showing what is being initialised.

Just after "First Boot service" is initialised my monitor goes into power saving mode and will not come back up.

I have treid several monitors - they either go black screen or into power saving so I don't tink it is just a power saving issue. Both graphics card and monitors appear to be probed correctly.

I have booted to runlevel 3 and treid to start system-config-display but again the monitor goes into power saving mode / blank and won't revert.

I can not access the virtual consoles either (still blank screen) so have to reboot back to level 3.

I'm totally stuck, a newbie and would appreciate any help

Cheers
Mike

at runlevel 3 do 'xorgconfig' as root and configure your settings for the X server, which include keyboard, mouse, video card, and monitor; with obvious emphasis and focus on the monitor/video card section. when asked to enter the vertical and horizontal sync/refresh rates for the monitor, be sure to specify the values your monitor supports. these values should be in the user manual and/or technical specifications of the monitor. maybe on the manufacturer's website if nowhere else.

after configuring that, try to startx.

Thanks for the reply,

I have "setup" which seems to be the same thing but no "xorgconfig" or xorgcfg". Anyways, even loading that causes the same problems.

I think I'm just going to return to FC4 and wait for a later release.

Thanks for your help

Cheers
Mike
