FC4 + Openoffice 2.0

Can anybody help with the following?.
I have just upgraded from FC3 to 4. (this was a completed re-install with quite a few hic-cups)

I have a Samba as well as NFS server, sharing files with a Windows 2000 PC. I can read and modify TXT files on the Windows PC using SMB with KDE-Edit or Write. (At least this gives one the option of opening a file on the network using nfs or smb.)

Now the BIG problem.

How can I open a Word file on the PC using OpenOffice 2.0

The Firewall is Disabled.
The Selinux policy is set as follows
Allow Samba to share users home directories
Disable SELinux protection for nmbd daemon
Disable SELinux protection for smbd daemon.

The Install of OpenOffice is the standard install from Fedora.

When I click Open, the option of retrieving a file on a network is NOT availible.
I have tried smb://<server>/path
smb:///<server>/path/*.*
nfs://<server>/path/*.*
I am lost as to what to try next.

Any sugestions.

Thanks

Have you tried mounting the samba share as a file system and entering the path using the mounted system?

I just tried this, and it worked fine. (For a doc file om a cd image mounted on an XP box accessed via SAMBA.)

Note: Default XP permisions on te Documents and Settings subdirectories preclude viewing those directories from SAMBA, so you'll need to move you files to a shared directory (on XP) before they will be available to SAMBA.
